Lalor United Sloga F.C 2️⃣ def CCFC 1️⃣

Scorers: Jordan Connerton 38th Min⚽️

In conditions that were not suited to football, we lost 2-1 in a good game played in right spirits between both clubs and that went on until an hour after the game were both players mingled over drinks and food. Thank you to Sloga for you’re hospitality.

Back to the game and we went with an unchanged line up and we had most possession of the ball but only had a couple of half chances.
Lalor the ln took the lead when an errant kick out from defence led to Klim receiving the ball from midfield and he expertly finished.
Worse was to come when a free kick taken 30 meters out played havoc in the wind and our ever reliable Cameron fell backwards and the ball spilt giving our hosts a 2-0 lead that was not a reflection on the game.
We then got back into it when Bakri played a great ball and Jordan took it in his stride at full tilt and slotted home in a great goal breathing life back into the game.

2nd half saw Craigieburn again being the better side early having all the ball and Jordan almost scored after being put through by Taner and as he rounded the keeper he hit the side netting.

Lalors keeper then went off injured (hope his ok) and we had the momentum but to Lalors credit they were the team that looked like scoring from that moment on.

We lose 2-1 but didn’t lose any admirers and it reinforces our beliefs in our path we are taking.

Young Timmy got a run the last 10 minutes as a 15 year old which is fantastic for our club to produce.

“We lost the game but we gave a good sight for most of the game said Michael after the game. They were smart and played to its strengths and the experience they had stood them in good stead the last 25 minutes. They ran the clock down and tried to slow the game down and we allowed that to happen. We need to take care of the ball and others need to start scoring goals to give us other avenues. The final 20 was disappointing as they looked like scoring and we lost shape. Congrats to British and Sloga and we look forward to getting another crack later in the year”
